Dreamforce 2011: Game over for the old school

I’ve spent the last couple of days in San Francisco with Richard, our UK CEO.

We watched the keynote this morning from Marc Benioff where he talked about some of the things that are coming in the Winter ’11 release version of Salesforce.

What we walked away thinking? It really – absolutely seriously – is game over for the old school CRM providers. We already knew this but today was just another hammer blow – the innovation coming out of Salesforce is light years ahead of anything else out there. It just makes a bit of a mockery of anything else going on.

What was new today? The big things that we took away were HTML5 iPad / iPhone / Android / Blackberry apps – so supporter360 will be 100% available on mobile devices without us having to lift another finger – so the time we planned to put into that we can now focus on some of the donor management magic we had in mind. All the better for our customers and a perfect example of why the Salesforce platform is going to take over the NFP sector.

Another big thing was social integration – got a major donor in your database? Click the button and you’ll find out what Facebook / LinkedIn / Twitter accounts that person might have and be able to watch what they’re saying. Imagine being able to find out all about what that person likes before you call them up to see if they might be interesting in upping their involvement in your cause.

There was a whole heap more. There’s no doubt Salesforce’s platform is changing the game just like the iPhone did in the mobile world.

PS – here’s Richard looking cool – he thought anyway!
